Requesting Peer Mediation Services

Any faculty member who is party to a dispute, or an academic administrator by way of referral, may request Faculty Peer Mediation.

To request mediation, please call the Center for Faculty Diversity and Inclusion at (858) 246-1923. To maintain confidentiality, we do NOT accept requests via email.

You will be asked to provide a brief description of the issue(s). If the issue(s) appear to be suitable for mediation, the Mediation Coordinator will contact each party to secure voluntary agreement and schedule a session. If a party declines to participate in peer mediation, the Coordinator will notify the initiating party and provide other options for resolution

When are mediations scheduled?

Mediations are scheduled during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, subject to the availability of the mediators.

How long will mediation take?

Parties should allow up to two hours for a mediation session. The length of the mediation will be determined by how much time is needed to work through the issue(s). If the process is not completed within the two-hour timeframe, additional sessions may be scheduled.

Where do the mediations take place?

Mediation sessions are held on central campus in a neutral location, unless the parties agree to another location.
